NuBow: Designed for performance, created for sustainability
Since bow making has had such an impact on the environment, it has been our mission to locate suitable alternative materials to create modern bows for musicians. With our original patented design, we have constructed a bow from one of nature’s most renewable resources; Bamboo. All parts are derived from sustainable resources, are travel friendly, and designed for minimal environmental impact.
The frog and button are made from an innovative product called Sonowood®, by Swiss Wood Solutions AG, which is manufactured using wood species from sustainably managed forestry. Its durability and scratch-resistant surface greatly reduces signs of wear. It is authentic wood without any synthetic colors, resins, or polymers added, and is beautifully mounted in sterling silver.
The alternative to pearl is a simulated material called Sanwa, manufactured by Kyocera. It is a highly durable lab-grown opal using an advanced technological process that creates the conditions for natural opal formation. This process requires a much longer production cycle in a controlled laboratory environment.
The strength and durability of a NuBow in conjunction with its remarkable playing qualities contributes to its responsiveness, ultimately exhibiting a bow with exceptional natural characteristics to that of a traditional Pernambuco bow.
